My favorite M.O.M. was once when just Mother and I went fishing and I caught a big fish and when I pulled it out of the water it fell in this ditch
which was quite a ways down the slope of the bank of the pond where we were fishing. I thought Mom would retrieve it but, NO! I had to get it
myself! When I got to the bottom and picked up my fish, I did not realize there were berry briars there full of bumble bees. They were buzzing
around my head and getting in my afro and I was pulling them out and screaming, "Mother, what to do, what to do?" She screamed, "Run!" So I
ran back up the slope with the bees hot on my tail straight for my Mom and she yelled back, "Not at me Fool!" So she took off running and I was
running right behind her and the bees were right behind me as we ran around the bank of this pond. When the bees stopped chasing us, we
both collapsed on the ground rolling in laughter.

My Favorite M.O.M. is: = Growing up my mom had at least 2-3 jobs for as long as I can remember but she ALWAYS had time for my sister and I.
She would look in the Inglewood, CA paper and always found things we could do for free on the weekends. We had so much fun! We went on
company picnics to Knotts Berry Farm or to ranches, local festivals, weekend drives, movies, beaches, whatever she could find for us to do! You
would never know that she was a single mother with 2 kids that didn’t have any "extra" money. It wasn’t until after I was in college I realized my
mom struggled in silence.

My Favorite M.O.M. of my grandmother is her always having a meal for us and always having a lap to sit on. Most of the time everybody was
outside playing but I would stay inside and sit on grandma's lap. She always had a kind word and no matter what anybody needed she would
always be there to help. She always had a hot meal made from scratch and no matter who you were you were welcome to eat. All the grands
wanted to stay with grandma even though we all had to sleep in the same bed. She had a wood heater in the middle of the room and it was still
cold sometimes but we all still wanted to stay with grandma. She was the best grandma and they don't come like her anymore. I love and miss
her. She left a lasting impact in all of our lives.
